What is the APE? [top of page]

The Parents Association at L’Ile aux Enfants is a non-political ,non-profitable organisation , open to all parents regardless of their nationality .The APE is a member of the NCPTA (National Confederation of Parent Teacher Associations ) whom constitution it adopted , which in turn, rapidly allowed it to be legally recognised as a “Registered Charity”, this new status entitling it to tax relief.

Who belongs to it? [top of page]

Any parent who has a close interest in the school life. The membership is £12.00 per year, per family and entitles you to:

  1. a parents’ directory
  2. a calendar with the school holidays and the free Wednesdays
  3. put your children in the after school care club
  4. stand as class representative
  5. become a committee member
  6. an end-of-term newsletter

Each membership fee feeds the APE’s fund which then allows the trustees to provide services and finance specific projects.

What's it's role? [top of page]

The APE’s involvement in school life aims at developing good relations between all those linked to school and at improving our children‘s life at school by helping to:

-buy materials and equipment (ex: library books, sport accessories, TV, video player, computers…)

-finance educational outings and field trips

The APE also exists to strengthen  the “family feel ”which characterizes our school by organising fairs, diners, so many convivial events where children, parents and teachers can share “joie de vivre” and good humour.

What does it achieve? [top of page]

The APE acts thanks to voluntary parents who wish to get involved and help to organise different services and activities like:

  • class representatives election

  • after school care

  • family directory

  • school calendar

  • end-of term newsletter

  • educational outings

  • field trips

  • purchase of library books

  • weekly sale of  “croissants & pains au chocolat”

  • sale of bags & tea towels decorated by the children

  • organisation of events (purely social or for fundraising purposes) like: the Christmas concert (with the help of the school), the Valentine’s party, the summer fair, the parents’ diner…
